Our company philosophy is to duplicate
the traditional and cultural sprit.

It is more than 115 years since our company was founded by Azuma Ihara in Kumano town, Hiroshima prefecture.

Our company philosophy is to duplicate the traditional and cultural spirit of our founder Azuma Ihara. It was his idea to assemble resources for talented young calligraphers who would become artists of the next generation.

The second president was Shisei Ihara who learned classic characters. He concentrated his passion on classical calligraphic writing education and produced calligraphic writing brushes for famous calligraphers who insisted upon having his writing brushes.

In addition to the production of brushes, Shisei Ihara was also a very talented artist who interacted with other famous intellectuals such as the woodcut print artist Shikou Munakata, the oil painter Kazumasa Nakagawa and the calligrapher and waka poet Hian Shimizu.

Ihara' writing brushes were not limited to just writing letters. He developed other specialized brushes called "Shisei Brand" for use by artists.
